The UNECE Ideas4Change startup competition recognizes entrepreneurs who are developing innovative solutions with the potential to create productive jobs in an ecologically sustainable and socially inclusive way.
Inspecto developed a method for the detection of pesticides and contaminants in food. With more than 85% of our food supply carrying pesticides residues it is no surprise that 29 different types of pesticides are in the average human body according to the Center for Disease Control & Prevention in the U.S. These residues are known to increase our chances to develop over 13 different illnesses, putting infants and young children at the highest risk.
The food industry from farmers to food manufacturers and retailers is actively looking for the means to provide healthier – cleaner produce for consumers but it lacks the proper means to do so. In 2016 the this industry saw a $55.5B lost as a result of food safety issues as a direct result. Inspecto offers a groundbreaking, quick, easy to operate and cost effective method for business in the food industry to solve this problem. To date, Inspecto was chosen to the MassChallenge and the 8200 Social Impact Accelerators, received a grant from the Ministry of Economy for its ingenuity, and completed its prototype development.
