Tel Aviv University: job demands and the metabolic syndrome

According to a study* conducted by Dr. Ofer Atad of the Faculty of Management at the Tel Aviv University, under the direction of Dr. Sharon Toker, director of organizational behavior program of the Faculty, long working hours increases the chances to suffer from metabolic syndrome, leading to heart disease and diabetes. In addition, employees have more risk than senior managers. The study was presented last week at the 36th International Anxiety and Stress (STAR) Conferencee, held at the University of Tel Aviv, June 30th -July 2nd 2015.

STAR annual conferences provide a unique opportunity to share, learn and discuss recent theoretical and applied developments in the fields of stress, anxiety and coping. Thus, STAR has been exceedingly active in providing an opportunity to disseminate research and clinical findings in an international forum.

This year in Israel, with its significant number of scientists and practitioners who study and practice issues related to stress and coping, the STAR Conference would be a unique opportunity for discussion, exchange of ideas, and professional and interpersonal networking.

The conference venue will be the School of Education at Tel Aviv University. Tel Aviv University is the largest university in Israel, with world-known departments in various fields. The modern campus of Tel Aviv University is itself a tourist attraction, in which you may also find the Museum of the Jewish People (the Jewish Diaspora Museum).

Tel Aviv, the largest metropolis of Israel, is a vibrant city, with outstanding beach along the Mediterranean sea, rich cultural life, unique museums, numerous branches of world-leading Hi-Tech companies located within a walking distance to the ancient city, Jaffa. From Tel Aviv you can easily approach Jerusalem, Haifa, Masada, the Sea of Galilee and many world-leading historical attractions.

Thus, we warmly invite you to join the 36th International Conference of STAR and enjoy world-known keynote speakers, intensive professional discussions, the welcoming atmosphere of Tel Aviv University and the pleasures of the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
