Israel selects 11 projects (168 MW) in solar-plus-storage tender

The Electricity Market Regulatory Authority of Israel, which had pre-qualified 15 bidders proposing 45 projects (465 MW) for its solar-plus-storage tender, has selected 11 projects proposed by three developers and totalling 168 MW. Israeli project developers Doral Energy and Enlight Renewable Energy were awarded 100 MW and 48 MW, respectively, while Alumni Capital (United States) won 20 MW. The projects will have to be connected to the national grid in 2022 and will sell their power generation at a final price of ILS19.90/kWh (US$5.78c/kWh).

Israel aims to raise the share of renewables in its power mix to 30% by 2030 and is supporting solar PV through tenders for large projects and through an incentive scheme (net-metering and feed-in tariffs) for rooftop PV. The Electricity Market Regulatory Authority plans to issue another solar-plus-storage tender by the end of 2020.
